WSU Taiko Drummers
The WSU taiko group started while preparing for our MATSURI in fall 2005, and now, while all the original members have either graduated or returned home, we still practice and perform taiko.
The style that we are currently practicing and performing is Miyake originating from Japan's Miyake Island. At this point we are currently concentrating only on the Miyake style.
In the beginning there were two or three members in 2005 and that number has grow to around fifteen in 2007 and now is about seven members, with two members graduating this spring/summer. We are currently looking to recruit more members so please contact us if you are interested in learning and/or participating in performances!
We have performed many times this semester on campus and at other locations, and are always looking for another opportunity to perform. Please contact us if you are hosting an event or know someone who is that we can participate in!
If you would like to contact us, please send an email to japan.club@wsu.edu.
