WSU Soran Bushi Dancers
The soran bushi dance is a traditional fisherman's dance originating from Hokkaido, the northern most island of Japan. The dance is very highly energetic and fast paced requiring a lot of movement.
The Japan Club began to learn and perform this dance since our first Matsuri in fall 2005 together with University of Idaho JSA (Japanese Students Association) and Lewis and Clark State College. Since the initial performance the dance, while all of the original members have graduated, is still being practiced and performed today by the current Japan Club members. Our most recent schedule is posted below, please come watch our performance if you are interested!
We are always looking for places on campus and in the community that we can perform, if you have hosting an event, or know someone who is that would like us to perform in, please contact us and we would be more than happy to participate in a performance. Currently we have about 13 members in the dance group, but are always looking to recruit more. If you are interested in learning and/or performing this dance, please get in contact with us.
If you would like to contact us, please send an email to japan.club@wsu.edu.
